I am quite stunned to see such a powerful message from someone your age! (Sorry if I'm discriminating against the young, but it took me many more years to understand stuff like this about life). I find myself thinking about the recent flap over whether we are allowed to stand or kneel during the anthem & I'm extremely concerned over the way our basic human rights are being trampled in so many ways these days. Even tho your poem is a little bit circular & repetitive, I understand this is done to show how the wheel just goes around & around, eating us alive & spitting us out. Very thought-provoking! One by one... Your excellently articulated and rhymed ideas settled in like grinding cogs spinning jaws... I asked questions, and kept my eyes on the sky... Very well penned...
No, but really, this is a beautiful poem. It describes that part of our society that most people are inclined to shut their eyes to.
I really think it's it's a great piece because just a few days ago, a kid asked a teacher a question, and received the reply, "How dare you ask a teacher, 'Why?' "
You've got a great poem here. Not one of your bests, no, but certainly a great piece.
Hey, I'm Zach. Seventeen years old. R.A. Salvatore, Author of Homeland, is my hero. I enjoy writing, mainly poetry now (simply due to time, and, I admit, a growing love for it), but fantasy novels is .. more..
