The Cliff Face

The Cliff Face

A Poem by Luke Masters
"

I wrote this when I was 13 or 14... Speaks for itself...

"

There she is,

Hanging on the edge,

The edge separating Life from Death.

I ran to her,

Holding on to her arm,

Not strong enough to pull her up.

Not sure when the grip will loosen

And she will fall...

There she is,

Hanging on the edge,

The edge separating Life from Death.

I stay near her all I can,

Holding on to her life,

Not emotionally strong enough

To hold on for long.

Just holding on.

Not sure when my grip will loosen.

Will I hold on?

Will I let go?

No, I cannot,

No, I will not

Let go.

But I will hold on and get ready

For when I must let go.

Dear God,

Give us the strength to hold on

And the strength to let go.
