That Girl

That Girl

A Poem by Cucumberlime

Through out my life I've passed judgement on women and men in relationships filled with empty promises and consumed in lies.  I was amazed at the amount of, what I thought to be then, blind and stupid people who settle for less than what they want and need, or even deserve in their significant other.  Counterparts who lie, steal, abuse, cheat, and humiliate them are kept because, even when blatantly seen, the truth is not believed. They are told, and the proof is there, but it is the lies that are excepted.  Caught red handed and they can still be manipulated by their partners.  They are made to feel they are in the wrong for questioning what they feel, see, and hear.  "Pathetic people," was my mind set. I mean how dumb could they be.
These were my thoughts.
Until one day I realized..... that's me.
I am one of those people.
That girl I looked down on for loving someone who made her so miserable.
I realized... I am that girl.
