Foolish Child

Foolish Child

A Poem by Mazie
"

This sonnet is about losing/finding yourself following bad situations

"
Once long before, I heard the elders say:
“If all’s too well, there’s trouble in your wake…”
And those without a care or thought will stray,
When Life, He comes to gather what He takes.
The mirror now does not reflect the truth,
Those eyes of stone, the wasting soul inside
Is not the “you” before the love had died,
And trapped in truth, that still consumes you whole,
The truth we all must learn in time,
Perfection is but only twisted lies
A fairy tale we live to ease our minds,
Then find the changed and stranger’s empty eyes.
Still staring straight, confusion leaves me numb.
Uncertain still; who have I now become?

A beautiful expression of attempting to find one's self with all the chatter surround us. The emotion was expressed emphatically. The flow and rhyming scheme were slightly inconsistent, but I'm a firm believer in poetry being a lawless art. Thank you for sharing and please return the favor by reviewing one of my pieces.
