Farewell

Farewell

A Poem by Mazie
"

Sometimes you just gotta let go of the past

"
Farewell to you, my void and weary soul;
Farewell to this, the torment in my mind,
Farewell to that, the past which haunts me whole,
Farewell to you, who left me far behind.
So long ago, in cold dark tales before
The raven bowed his head to Life’s decree
And Death, still sated, took his cares  off-shore
And life could be as it was ought to be.
The past still weighs a hefty pound each day
And those who carry, shall they know the load
For naught can tear that safety strap away
While those who carry keep their solemn code.
Farewell, I say, to all that brings the night,
Consumed no more, now see with clearest sight.

Many great lines but favorites - "And Death, still sated, took his cares off-shore
And life could be as it was ought to be." Very true but easier said than done. Nice job.

"I can see clearly now the rain has gone" ... This line springs to mind as I read this super work.

ur welcome
Enjoyed this. The turn,(usually the part when there is a stumble,) the form, the count, is all spot on, and the message comes across loud and clear.

I like the sonnet form, have written several, and I cannot abide it when it's done badly.
