The Lake (poem)

The Lake (poem)

A Poem by Cyali
"

Wrote this spur of the moment about my happy place in my mind =]

"

I walk along in the twilight
With no true destination in mind.
One could easily lose themselves
In this seemingly endless raven-black night.
I loved the way the moon’s luminescence reflected off of
Those small waves that beckoned so strongly to me,
And the way the charcoal clouds painted a mural
On the star-filled nighttime sky.
Closing my eyes, I heard the soft rustle and swoosh
Of the willow trees around the periphery of my beloved lake,
Along with the quiet hooting of an unseen owl.
This spot had always forsaken all of my sorrows and worst fears.
I was saddened as I turned to leave, but I soon smiled as I anticipated
My returning to the majestic, unchanging beauty
Of my one true safe haven.
