look me in the eyes when you sing your lullaby

look me in the eyes when you sing your lullaby

A Poem by Pale Rose
"

I don't often name my poems so the title is really the first line... It's a short poem about loneliness.

"

look me in the eyes when you sing your lullaby
that crystal gaze, it slips away on rocks in the rain
if I asked for you to stay
you'd laugh and walk away

face to face I lose my lips
inside I'm tumbling down in a heap of fits
my unspoken words and my silence:
both make you walk away just the same

How could I express the beauty I see in you
With brief waves and how-are-yous?
How could I make you stay
When by myself I don't know the way?

I know it's a little rough, but that's how it's meant to be.

I definitely can relate to this sentiment. Lovely poem.

I especially liked the first line and the first two lines of the final stanza. Beautiful.

I like it; especially the roughness of it. The feelings were meant to be raw and the words echo that well.
Very good. The persona here fears that whatever she does--- or does not do---- will drive her loved one away.

Good job. :)
