Words mean nothing

Words mean nothing

A Poem by Pale Rose
"

It's surprising how much words hurt when they mean nothing.

"

Words mean nothing

When he says he loves you.

You know he's bluffing--

  Yet he does need you,

And though you know it isn't the same

  That distinction disappears into flame...

Words mean nothing, anyway.

Words mean nothing

When his mouth burns up things said.

Even as you've burned you've bled

  Soon all language has fled

  And you're soaking in red...

And maybe the fire is spreading,

Burning bridges and then whole cities

Until there's nothing left but just you two--

  Be happy, you're warm...

Oh well, words mean nothing, anyway.

If words mean nothing,

Why do you listen to him instead of me?

So when I want to, I won't speak,

I won't plead for you to stay,

I won't say "I'm happy for you",

I won't cry out when he burns you,

And I won't say, "I love you".

Because,

When you find out as I did

That words mean nothing,

I'll be with you in the cold

To catch you as you fold.

I'm not happy with how this is written, but hopefully the message and the emotion is there... :S

Poetry is the ultimate expression of humanity. It is the only tool we have to express the depth of our emotions and suffering. As for my own, I see the dark side of life and find it beautiful. I seek .. more..
