Indian Summer

Indian Summer

A Poem by CynRick Kincaid

Indian Summer

Black birds "caw" it the Indian

Summer

Every hill on fire

Last warmth of the sun before

winter

Fall leaves to admire

Rich with seeds, birds are in the

meadow

Just like wild aster

Bees buzz around apples to

mellow

As if drunk on cider

Wild with leaves blows the gusty

autumn wind

Every color behold

Daffodil and dandelion seeds

descend

Nature is retold

Hazy sunshine, cold wind in the

morning

Summer's final hour

Nature's way of scattering and

sowing

Stubborn weed or flower

Summer's gone.Time to enjoy the

harvest

Whether bushel or pail

Baby birds have left their mother's

nest

New place to dwell

Brilliant crimson, russet, and gold

colors of October

Before winter air turns to cold,

Enjoy Indian Summer
