Turbulence

Turbulence

A Poem by Cyntax

My flight is en route. Takeoff was rough.
Air pockets hit me. The drops can be tough.
The light tells me to fasten, but seat belt's astray,
If this plane really crashes, won't help any way.

Standing while they're sitting. Tempting my own fate,
My flotation device is my rugged mental state.
If cabin pressure ceases, they'll all grab their mask,
I think I'll grab a cig'rette and swig of the flask.

They scream and I laugh as the plane drops and trembles,
I ponder how much a flight's path, life resembles.
If we land or we don't, the ride doesn't last.
I'm ready for fire. Prepared for the crash.

As usually you, manage to create such a great visual with your words.

How wild it is, just to let life be.

You capture it all here. Tempting my own fate.

Great stuff.

Metaphorically genius, I really like your style, there are no frills, just the straightforward nitty-gritty of life's crashes and highs.

I love life metaphors and a rocky airplane is a great one...creative G...this is just like you to take life by the horns and ride it for all it is worth! I need a friend like you to remind me it is ok to jump off a cliff once in a while, if I am going to crash and burn anyway, the ride better damn well be worth it...xo Ell

Life is certainly an uncertainty - smooth travel one moment and turbulent the next. Better to laugh and embrace, rather than go through in fear. Great message, well crafted, G!

Thank you, Rita. Always grateful for your insight and feedback.
Good lord...I have a fear of flying and damn right, that plane goes down, I'll be having rum and starting smoking again albeit briefly ;) x

Thanks, Poppy!
OMG, I should not have read this until I got home on Friday, this does not calm my nerves about flying. All I can think about when I am on the plane is: "OMG, I AM GONNA DIE!" Now I am sure of it....... HA! Aaaaah!

I did like this one though! :-)

That's what I call making the most of the time you've got left. We might as well go out on our own terms. I enjoyed this poem a lot.
