The Beast Within

The Beast Within

A Poem by Cyntax

When the alarm clock rings, I heed the blessing of an hour,
It's when my beast from within begins to devour.
To conquer all I touch and beat life at its game,
Always one you cannot catch and that you wish to tame.

Mental push-ups give my gray matter needed muscle,
Always able to combat and prepared for a tussle.
The key to life is to become a statue,
Steadfast in self worth. Able to repel what comes at you.

Eight months until year end. "15" approaches,
My can of Raid is empty. Now free of all the roaches.
Exterminate those whose wave lengths aren't equal,
Constant rebirth leaves no need for a sequel.

Primal instinct as I hunt my daily prey.
Mating time's in season. I think it's time to play.

this is just a very cool poem...i like the idea of being a statue...not in the sense of staying put...but of being solidly grounded and confident to face life...to be quite okay with that alarm going off...and jumping up to face the words with fierceness and playfulness as well.

This speaks much in the lines...the beginning sets pace and then you just add more fuel in the fire...of this verse...the uniqueness of how you lay this one down in intensity...each start line in each stanza puts an added touch in the sequence of things...

Once again the tenderness burns in words ~~ well penned, all the feelings are burning with the flames of lust. Lust`s a very good appetite in breakfast, lunch & in a dinner ~~ because this`s what keeps the body & health maintains if we treat it RIGHT ~~ well penned write!

Wow, what an incredible, indelible feast of images and emotions you've brought together here...every day does feel like a war to me, something to be conquered before it can be enjoyed...such is life, at least from my angle. Perfect rhyme and rhythm...I love those things in a poem as well. Just a fine and profound piece of poetry...awesome work my friend :)

That man is definitely me :) Thanks so much, Poppy. Power was the goal.
Isn't it natural that even a good man we know has the beast within him? People are just combinations of positive and negative characteristics. Nobody is perfect. So sometimes, as human, we listen to the dark side of ours. Just human nature...one needs to play.

Exceptional, G.

Thanks, Q! Appreciate your reviews.
This is a totally feral poem. Wild and predatory words drip from your poem:

Constant rebirth leaves no need for a sequel.

Primal instinct as I hunt my daily prey.
Mating time's in season. I think it's time to play.
