Court On High Seas

Court On High Seas

A Poem by Cyprian Van Dyke
"

To what point do you think something through.

"

I’ll make that cruise yet.

I’ll be with her by sunset.

When birds fly in m shapes in the sky.

And dolphins spring like mermaids.

I’ll be by her side.

When the breeze runs through her hair,

I’ll be there to hold her hand.

When she walks along the rails,

We’ll be paired.

I’ll be on the deck to hug her and guide her steps,

As strobed stars blaze and the full moon fills the sky.

I’ll be, in the picture she’ll see,

Holding a star in a little black box on bended knee,

On an ocean full of stardust,

With her facing me,

With white vapor escaping her lips formed by the vibrations

Of the word, “Yes!”

And around us,

The hands of the passengers turn into light,

Due to the speed of their applause.

It’s at this time I wonder her reaction.

When she’s looking at the photograph,

After years of us having been married.

Wondering in her heart

If it’d save our marriage.

"Court on High Seas"
Cyprian Van Dyke,
first of all this is a poem which is hinted by the very title. The ending confused me a little at first untill put in context with the whole. By the way you could also write this in reverse. The photograph is actually also an important subject for this piece. The image must be of this poem's couple's story in
black and white.
Beautiful touches to an early love and passion are seen here and there:
"when the breeze runs through her hair
i'll be there to hold her hand"
commitment and dedication paired with a protective touch:

"I'll be on the deck to hug her and guide her steps
As the strobed stars blaze and full moon fills the skies"
Then the ring:
"Holding a star in a little black box on bended knee"
There is so much more I would like to review!
Memories are sometimes all that remain...but
holding onto the beautiful is all important!
Blessings,
kathy

I love the title and after that you can only wonder what tale is to follow.

"As strobed stars blaze and the full moon fills the sky." What a great line. Defnitely poetic and a very enjoyable read. Nice work.

Beautiful narrative. It made me think if beautiful memories alone could save a marriage. Very well-written.

Thank you for your review. I glad you thought that, that's what I was thinking.
Reality crowned by the most beautiful ending!
Near enough every line painted a scene or emotion, no frills, but genuinely haunting.

' Wondering in her heart ~ If it’d save our marriage. ' If this be based on fact, then, your poem worked a beautiful wonder.. as it should.

Well, I found it rather moving. I love the way it builds up with a noble , loyal sentiment and then it ends on a poignant note. Beautifully written.
Just one thing, did you mean 'w' or 'm'?

A beautiful twist at the end. Perhaps, if the beauty outweighs the ugly parts, she'll stay...Appreciated so much.

Thank you very much. Ah, affirmative. :)
for me, what made it worth while was the memories it stirred up. You painted a nice familiar picture here.

This is as much sweetly romantic as much as bitterly realistic. Great write.

Thank you, very. :)
So hopeful and bittersweet. It makes me ache, knowing the tragic fate of so many marriages (including mine). It sounds like this one has promise, however, with the effort and consideration.

An excellent piece.
