Shoulders of the World

Shoulders of the World

A Poem by D Connolly
"

A ride on my dad's shoulders

"

Riding high on the shoulders of the World

I recall taking the plum from the tree

The sweetest flavor I can ever remember

Today I relish the memory

The sweetness of that day lingers still

Riding high on the shoulders of the World

Author's Note

D Connolly
Walking through the forests of Germany on a march with my dad, which we did often, I took a plum from a tree, just as described, and I remember that sweetness so well, 30+ years later. The sweetest part of the memory is being on my dad's shoulders and just being with him.

'Shoulders of the World'
D.Connolly,
High on the shoulders of your Daddy..what else could a little girl need?
The feeling is, "I am loved, I am wanted, needed and cherished.'
The sweetness of belonging and finding it delicious is matched by the
treat of a plumb while on the 'shoulders of the world' Your world.
Blessings,
Kathy

Nice. Sitting on the shoulder of giants, feeling like the owner of the world and never wanting it to end. Happy days, turned into happy memories that can never be forgotten. :)
And it's got the flavour of the plum to remind you too, every time you feel a little nostalgic, just pop into the greengrocers and remember the smiles.
