Pride

Pride

A Poem by DMPoet

I heard you call out to me

A warning, a supplication of fear

Eyes open but unseeing

lost to the beauty of creation

compassion was a gift

conceived from my suffering

faith and hope my offspring

each one crucified to doubt

your pride was a poison

Tainted by your ignorance

My love was not a weapon

But the tool of my destruction

As passion is my nature

My seduction was complete

Your anger poured into me

its intoxication my undoing

The death of my purpose

brought forth an abomination

this tempest is your progeny

A destruction of my empathy
