No One's Near

No One's Near

A Poem by D.R. Black
"

This poem is based on my niece's depression.

"

Dark and fearful

Slow and shallow

Deep in pain and

Sown in fear

Hurts surrounding

Empty shadows

Nothing ever

Changes here

I can’t help

Her

Across the darkness

I can’t reach

Her

Wipe her

Tears

She’s alone

Hurt and

Sobbing

She’s out there

Where…

No one’s near

Yell out

Cry out

Ask for help

There’s someone

Near,

But they can’t

See her.

Others stand

Near me

And shout to

Her,

But she

Cannot hear

Others

See her

And her sorrows

Yet these

Others

As useless

As me.

Build a bridge

Climb around

Walk on tightropes

Jump across

She’s still there

In a pool of

Tears.

No one to

Help

Her

No one’s

Near.
