No Poseidon

No Poseidon

A Poem by D.Whiskey
"

short poetry

"
I was going to say that her chest rose like the ocean
but I've yet to see an ocean rise.
I've seen chest rise,
and fall,
and lie.
I've placed palm to chest and pressed
in an attempt to summon a tempest
to put the wind back into the sails of stalled vessels.
Turns out I'm no Poseidon.
The sad truth about sinking ships.

They sink.

I can't promise you safe harbor.
but I can promise you this,
as long as I posses a breath and a bucket,

I will bail you out.

CPR... 80% of people who receive CPR out of a hospital setting die. This mean 20% lived however. Yes, "sinking ships... sink", and lives do perish. All we really have to give is our little efforts to scoop away the pains and offer the breath we have while we still have it.
I really liked the poem and the intentions behind it.

"as long as I possess a breath and a bucket

I loved that bit. I also loved the theme you used as an analogy.
I don't feel the need to be picky about verse structure or anything, I couldn't possibly word it the same way as you did and achieve the same effect.
Awesome poem, I genuinely enjoyed it.
