Loving from a distance

Loving from a distance

A Poem by D.White

Dark while sacred, you bound me
Manic yet well behaved, no mirror knows me quite like you
In notes, we speak
A pulse dying to beat
The soundtrack of my heart, you drive me
You love my quiet nature but you love my tongue more
So my voice goes unhidden
Abusive and life hindering, I am still drawn to you
I still cheer, hope and pray for your uprising
And no not the sugar-coated concealer some aspire for you
I want your blood, tears and ugly truth to shine too
You remind me of the stretch marks painted upon my legs
An imperfection but unable to hide behind perfectly crooked lines
You flaunt real and dismiss pretentious
My eyes have turned red from the mere thought of you
I’ll face them all, if that’s how you realize I BELIEVE in you
Yes, I have shouted when angered about how much I hate you but my first love, you once left me on the concrete bleeding
The situations you put me through
Hell I have walked in flames just to keep up with you
The loving memories branded in my mental, often the reason why I find myself pissed with you
We both love stupidly
Despite all the reasons why we shouldn’t we make reasons why we must
Together or separate we never been good at strictly sleeping, label us restless
Day or night we’re up like the homicide cases
your soul leaks inside and consumes me
Even with your comfortable aura, this separation was always predicted
We’ve been together for over a decade and while in your presence I’ve cried over ten years of tears
Constantly making me feel like I wasn’t when I was
Heartbroken and mentally burned
All the same, I still love you
You turned a naïve, confident
Shy, opinionated
You made me!
A treasure, taken for granted
Appearing in the dark
A map reflecting from the sky, what we thought was cracked pavement, no! That was the sign
Above in the sky
A guide aligned with the stars
Detroit, I remained patient and you spoke
You said, look up and I’ll paint it vividly
This is how your dreams become reality
Keep your head high, I was tough on you because I had to
I wanted you to survive and know how to adapt when it was time to
I won’t always be able to guide you, so take these lessons and let them be the voice inside you
Detroit lives inside you
