Only a dream

Only a dream

A Poem by Dakota

See the faces of the fallen
Lost in support of this cause
Supression fire loud on the left
No decision is without flaws
Fear and blood
Like sucking on a penny
Gunpowder and sand
The last scents known to many
A startle and a quick jump up
Awaken with a scream
The sheets on the bed are soft and inviting
Only a dream, only a dream.

Wonderful job with the senses. I was thinking about how it truly brings you into this world in it's few lines, and now I know why.
Favorite line had to be "Gunpowder and sand
The last scents known to many"
Horrifying, heartbreaking, and eye opening all at once. Bravo lady

This was terrifying and visceral. I admire the honesty. The imagery is strong. Thank you for sharing this.

Scary! But I think you succeeded in letting the reader know what you were trying to pass through.
