The Rain

The Rain

A Poem by Daltin Bydeed
"

an endless rain

"

I.

Softly, softly falls the rain

Cold as arctic winds

Piercing as daggers in the night

Shelters crumble

Flames roar

Left to open skies letting in the rain

Softly, softly falls the rain

Shattered hollows

Broken foundations

Burnt landscapes

Rain falls relentless

Snow melts

The earth fails

And down pours the rain

Softly, softly falls the rain

Clouds gather

Darkness falls

Hell is no pit of flame

Hell is darkness

Filled with rain

Softly, softly falls the rain

Upon ones soul

falls this hell.

II.

Within this bleak and ruined world

Within this hell

One may think one stands alone

Softly, softly falls the rain

To this troubled soul

Who has no shelter

From the rain

One has nowhere

Nowhere to hide

Through ones own actions

Having burnt the shelter

Softly, softly falls the rain

Upon this world

Ruined in self-destruction

Passion unbridled

Pride enveloped

Humility spent

Softly, softly falls the rain

Falls the rain

To feed the flames

Ruins of empires

To leave warnings

To leave examples

To leave proof

 The narcissistic nature of humanity

That lets in the rain

III.

Softly, softly falls the rain

However,

One stands not alone

Friends

Family

Ones own self

One is never alone

Softly, softly falls the rain

Those piercing rains

Harm not the soul

Within this ruined world

For this world is ones own

So with this support

This ruined world blooms again

As grass grows

Upon scorched land

Softly, softly falls the rain

Upon this new life

Attempting to drown it

To no avail,

Saplings grow

For it is ones own world

One chooses to let in the rain

So these saplings grow to trees

Softly, softly falls the rain,

This intruder

In ones own world

IV.

The rain may flood this world

Time and time again

But it is to no avail

For as many times as life is drowned

It regrows

Time and time again

Each time stronger than the last

Softly, softly falls the rain

An evil necessary

To grow

The rain is as powerful

As one makes it

And even when it seems as if ones world is falling

Failing

Destroyed

Remember this,

The rain has only as much influence

As one allows it

Softly, softly falls the rain

But upon a growing world

A thriving world

A world that fears not the torrent.

So let it rain

Daltin, this is a fantastic piece. I love everything about it. I like how you start out with rain as the destructor almost. This:
"Passion unbridled
Pride enveloped
Humility spent"
Speaks of humanity and our self-destruction. All the negative aspects of life, of us, of what your "rain" can do.
And then, you turn it around and bring in the renewing point of rain. The replenishing factor of a cleansing downpour. I really like the repetition of the line "softly softly falls the rain". It's almost a comfort during everything else you've mentioned. All the "bad" things, and yet there is the rain, softly falling. Washing it all away.Nicely done my friend. :)
