Why I Pray

Why I Pray

A Poem by DanCuster
"

Someone asked me why I pray, here is my answer.

"

Yesterday I was at the pool talking to some people I wanted know

We’re chillin under the sun like a bunch of bros

A dude had a cross tattooed on his chest

It was right over his heart, cardiac arrest

The guy turned to me and asked me why I pray

I had just finished reading a bit of bell hooks so I was feeling a certain type of way

I opened my mouth and started say

The oppression of people gets me on my knees

Earth needs to know that women ain’t just baby factories

Putin needs to stop beating gays for being gay

Boko Harim needs to let them Nigerian little girls go and play

Faux News needs to stop saying Islam is the ultimate source of wrong

The USA needs to stop locking up blacks for smoking a bong

Now, for me as a citizen of the United State I believe white supremacy is the penultimate foe

I say “citizen of the United States” because America is a continent though J

Back to the matter at hand

White supremacy is in your head, like the music of your favorite band

It Skypes with colonialism and racism, they’re all unholy bros

White Supremacy corrupts history, it shrinks the show

“If nothing is happening in Europe, nothing is happening” is the thinking you know

History is the beautiful language of time

Saying white history is world history is a crime

A murder, a genocide of information

It takes what it wants, cultural and historical appropriation

It shuts down the oppressed and let the dominant preach

It spoils the mind and corrupts those who teach

Injustice everywhere makes me put my arms to together

It seems so natural, like the weather

As H.L. Mencken once said ““Injustice is relatively easy to bear; what stings is justice.”

However, when I see injustice I feel God’s plan is amiss

So many don’t know or care, ignorance is bliss

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a good Christian and I love all despite my speech being bleak

It is this love that gives me the power speak

I speak for those who can’t speak in a way that suits them

They have to use the language of their oppressors who love to shoots them

I pray for one day justice to be king and for injustice to be a statue in a museum

In there right next to King Tut’s mausoleum

Difficult and full of struggle it seem

Nothing is impossible, God remember “ I have a dream”…

I was going to give my opinion and thought. I have a tatoo written on roman letters, I have a shaven head hold it I have been to a Milwakee Metalfest damn it I am white I don't use Skype but Lync does the same awfull job I happen to live in Europe and even worse the familiarity towards the feeling that we are not even part of it is astounding my favorite drug is ignorance becuase it demands a complicated futility and imaybe to no avail I would wonder if the supremacy of self is a great subject as long as we are clear who inhabits it and before I say I will remain diehard I read your poem and though why to stereotype?

And that's all i could do just live with the question.

Thankyou Dan for your offering

Any historian worth his salt will tell you that the first civilizations on Earth were African and Asiatic. Nordic civilization learned from preexisting one’s. The discovery of the Scientific Method by the West gave it a temporary advantage over the others, but that era in human history is now over. The Age of Reason has now supplanted the Age of Superstition world-wide. If Native Americans had been blessed with horses from the get go , they may have been the ones landing in Europe in 1492 with the more advanced civilization. It’s not the people, but rather serendipity that has promoted one civilization above another.

There is only one race and if you have already divided it in your head then for you it shall remain divided and to whom you have given the power and credit here it is also shall also remain credited. It then will remain the number one race for all as you have given it credit here. There are two sexes and that is a fact. Woman will never be only a baby factory for God said, "It is not good for man to be alone." Therefore she is a companion (and much more).
