One Against the World

One Against the World

A Poem by Lydia Jamison

Being one against the world,
Can be a lonely thing.
It can leave you bound and broken,
Like a bird without wings.

When no one care to hear your voice,
And there's nothing you can do,
I will let him fall asleep with me.
I'm a broken heart, too.

And in the morning when he's gone,
I'll get up and I'll go.
I'm one against the world again.
Trust, I'll never know.

I'm walking this walk of shame,
Another lonely girl.
It seems that every day in this life
Is me all by myself.
One against the world.
