You

You

A Poem by A. M. Charles

You look at me with tortured eyes
Filled with love and adoration.
You’re a fallen angel on your knees
Clinging to me as your blessed salvation.
You cling to me afraid to fall,
Fighting the demons you see
Clawing to get inside me.
Demons created by your fear.
You’re sinking, drowning in a shallow pool.
Just hold my hand and stand!
You’ve surrendered to love
But you fear its bliss.
Just look into my eyes and see the truth,
That the strength and self worth you suddenly feel
Was yours all along.
I am not your savior.
I am the one blessed by the Goddess.
You are the answer she gave to my prayer.
