I Wonder Sometimes

I Wonder Sometimes

A Poem by Dani California

I wonder sometimes

About moments online

Strangers showing love

Across the miles

His, hers, yours

And mine

I wonder sometimes

Faceless people I find

Conversations sublime

Words on a screen

Telling stories, secrets

Some that rhyme

I wonder sometimes

While we chat online

Passing hours in time

The joy of friendship

Smiles and laughter

In you I find

I wonder sometimes

Only knowing your mind

If it matters that I find

You’re really someone else

Though you’re still...

So kind

I wonder sometimes

Since we’re passing lonely time

If you’re really a friend of mine

Or just an imaginary companion

I’ve created in my mind

Online

I wonder sometimes

Dani California
This was inspired by my thought that although we don't always know the person we are communicating with on the other end of cyber space, if the connection is positive, and brings joy.... does it really matter? Should it matter?

Tell me what you think...

I wonder too you have broached a subject we all must think about. I have friends on line i have and never will meet. Some friendships span years and some are new. Some we just click with straiht away andothers the rapport builds gradually.. I wonder if we could meet with net friends face to face would that friendship still stand

I think everyones wonders about this. I find myself wondering about this quite often.
I really like this piece, it's very well written(everything that you write is always well written!).
Keep up the great work,

I really liked the rhyme scheme. It's kind of like that in real life too. People know other people, but it's really hard to know who someone is on the inside. It's like we all have a shield on, an image that we want people to see.

This is a nice flowing poem that questions the wonders of who we are on the otherside, how we touch each others hearts and souls. Is it a true feelings or a illusion, that's a great question and i might ponder it for a minute second. For what is more important is the indulging that lifts my spirit when I'm down, or excitement of their words and at the end of the day I can call them friend....nice write

I could apply online hesitations to face-to-face ones honestly...
Truth is not assured with physical presence.

These lines stayed with me:

"I wonder sometimes
Only knowing your mind
If it matters that I find
You're really someone else
Though you're still...
So kind"

Whether or not it would matter would be relative for me.
And I imagine finding out that someone is not who I thought
would affect how much I trusted them going forward. That
uncertainty would linger...

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Something to definitely
have in mind when communicating online.

all i can say is that....sometimes i think it is easier to talk to a person online rather in person. you dont have that awkward silence!! it is hard not to have a silght atraction to the other person...depending on what they are saying. your imagination plays games with you. thinking that person is what you want to think or something way out of character..but when you see the person you either think wow not what i expected or something you knew. i have done that many times. i have found some really sweet pple on the computer..and on this site. i think if you can have a connection with someone makes a differance in a person out look on things. i really did enjoy your writting. made me think about the pple in know on the computer and how they might be thinking also!! thanks again for sharing.

I love this poem. It hits a little to close to home for my comfort in some areas but at the same time it is so true. Like the title. Re: your note, Personally...I think sometimes it truly does matter because there are those out there that are intentionally "causing trouble". Yet here I am. I don't want to think about that kind of thing when I am just here to read and occasionally try to write. In that case no, I don't think it matters, I think the postive and bringing of joy should be all that counts. I guess it just depends on where you are on the net and who you are (or think you are) talking to.
