Friends

A Poem by Daniel

I'm staring at myself 25 one son no significant other no fire in my eyes to keep my legs moving shouldn't take long for me to fall in depression looking at myself age before my eyes I lost the ability to grasp tomorrow or know what love feels like I'm just lusting possibilities now it's funny I laughed and clowned about men who reached this spot never thought I'd share their fate to be alone with friends telling you your time will come just wait I hate being this nice man they trample on this humbled loner they ignore this brilliant guy no one notices but my friends they are all I have even if their advice is to wait I'm glad I chose these friends to wait with I'm only 25 tomorrow might be 30 but I'm alive so I'll try to be patient as long as I have these friends by my side
