To Dance with Words

To Dance with Words

A Poem by DannyLynne Riley

I waited up all night for my muse to show

and like a jilted lover mocked by the dawn

still dressed up from the night before

humiliated and alone

I pulled the covers over my head

I slept the day away

and as the night fell once again

to find me perched on elbows

with my pen

the empty page sliped to the floor

no conjured words

from days before

and so I vowed my gift a curse

the well was dry

no plot or verse

and just when the desert

seemed to hot to bear

the rain came down

and dancing all around

the words were everywhere

that's how it happens sometimes~ that is how the most gripping/moving creations give birth to themselves~ sometimes what happens is this~ we do not write our poems~ they write us~ is is a symbiotic relationship that is overwhelming and comforting and beautiful~ here~ each line like pangs of the creative force softly birthing themselves ~ coming to fruition~ bearing extraordinarily sweet fruit~

Ahhhh, the great feeling of Writer's Block. And I do say "great" because once the words do come, they usually don't stop for a while. Great imagery here. Welcome Back, DannyLynne!
