One More Day.

One More Day.

A Poem by Stormy Weather

Smeared lipstick on your door,

I’m on my knees.

He thinks I’m a princess but he’s never seen me

Cry.

I hold on for one more day,

With all my bones screaming at me.

My hands are trembling and it’s just one more day,

But I think I want to die, now.

Maybe just wait one more day.

And his eyes are bigger than mine and I can’t seem to find my keys.

He sees me dancing in a sparkly gown and I’m

Beautiful.

But I’m throwing up in the bathroom and I know I need to hold on

For just one more day.

You’re blind and you’re deaf and you’re beautiful

And I can’t wait any longer.

Your dead cigarettes look like wounded soldiers and I envy them

Because they died on your lips.

He murmurs into my ear about how he can’t contain the pure joy

I bring him,

And I think to myself.

Just one more day.

The theme of the words, "One more day" throughout this read...give you the reader a focal point in the lines...and the struggle of the person...with the lines...as one reads this verse...
