Forest of Dreams

one of my first nature poems.

As I wander, the wind sings a sweet song of justice in my ear

I can hear the gentle laughter of the water, the sigh of the earth

The trees speak the wisdom of the past, hundreds of lives ago.

The sun sparkles down, flitting light down between the leaves

 

As night descends upon my forest of dreams, the wind howls warning, not to be heeded

I can see the dark black of night flow down upon the earth, and feel no fear

The trees are silent protectors of life and hope

The stars are my protectors, the moon my heart

 

As the sun rises, the wind smiles a warm greeting upon the earth

Delicate flowers bloom, stretching toward the sun

Moss grows over the rocks, and a path is formed in my forest of dreams

The true path of life is the one we follow

 

I walk in my forest of dreams, the elements of nature floating around me

Sun, Wind, Water, Earth

Embracing, welcoming

 

I open my eyes…

And I can see…

 

I see the bright sun above me

I see the cool earth below me

I see the cool river encircling me

I see the leaves blowing about by the wind

 

I open my heart…

And I can feel…

 

I feel the bright sun above me

I feel the cool earth below me

I feel the cool river encircling me

I feel the leaves blowing about by the wind

 

As I wander in my forest of dreams,

My path unfolds

As I wander in my forest of dreams

I grow wiser

As I wander in my forest of dreams

I live in hope and wonder
