The Sidewalk in My Mind

The Sidewalk in My Mind

A Poem by Eric Darsie
"

Feeling trapped by thoughts I don't want in my mind, this poem poured out of my pen onto paper, and now here.

"

The Sidewalk in My Mind

Trapped under the feet of you

Walking around and all over me, in my mind

I tried kicking you out

But as usual, I was defeated

No matter what, I love you dearly

You never intended this to happen

For some reason (which I can’t figure out) you’re stuck inside

Inside my head you seem to wonder

As much as I try to, it seems like a permanent residence

The sidewalk is hard as a rock now

There’s no way to escape it

Only prayer can weaken it up

God alone can break it into pieces

Freedom comes only through the Son

The prison inside my mind will be defeated.
