The Eagle

The Eagle

A Poem by natalie
"

memorial for 911

"
As I walk up to the monument,
with names written row after row
                     The marble reflects the sunlight,
even though it feels so cold

                     Hurt engraved in memory,
         Loss without gain
                     Represents our children's cries,
                      mother's love
                        and our Father's pain

A boy to my left, is trying to get his mother's attention,
   and yes, he gets loud
What he say's as he is tugging on his mother's sleeve,
                                       sure does make me proud

"Isn't that daddy's name  right there,
written in the red, white, and blue?"
She shakes her head, and look's at him,
because she can't bear the truth

"Yes, it is, your father's name,
but it is only engraved in black"
I guess she didn't see those stars in his eyes
or the stripes across his back

                   My finger' trace the number's,
               yes, nine-eleven
deep in my heart, I know,
that was one busy day in heaven

A rip and a roar, the boy yells
we are caught in the enemies snare
I look down into his terrified eye's and said,
                "Tip your hat,
                                 and be proud, boy, that's
           our eagle in the air!"

The horrific incident of 9/11 is retold but, now in an inspiring sense to a young boy. I loved the story that was told in this poem.

Thank You, Beauty rises out of the ashes, but you already know that:-)
The historical events are always a blossoming write when penned neatly on paper. It is as viewing a new point of view towards it. Like the movie Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

Wow, fantastically penned. The Structure is uniquely beautiful and the flow is very good. The rhymes are also well done.
