Sisterhood

Sisterhood

A Poem by DaughterNature
"

This is an exercise in syllabics, and the situation came from real life!

"

It’s there, beneath, within

all women: sisterhood,

a way of connection.

The ladies’ room becomes

a place where we can find

our place among sisters.

So when I heard her bang

her fists against the box

I couldn’t help but yield

to ties we all possess.

The offer, any time

to anyone in need,

of tampon, pad, or just

the solidarity --

enough to show we care.

We rifle, dig, and share

with sisterhood within.

Nice trimeter rhythm; the singsongy meter fits with the humorous anecdote.
What was the exercise?

I enjoy the way you pluck a singular facet from life or nature and elaborate on it with simple, soulful words. Well done, DaughterNature.
