Songs of a Mute

Songs of a Mute

A Poem by Tobin
"

Poetry is an attempt by the author to communicate their soul. Either to others, or simply to themselves. Sometimes the message gets lost in the forest. This is what this poem is about.

"

Songs of a Mute

I have no eyes

But I must see

I have no voice

And I must sing

Unconsoled by the dark

My mind how it seethes

For my forest stands naked

Stripped bare of her trees

Chained to these stumps

Blindly groping the wind

Singing testimony in silence

Comes this rage from within

But no one can hear

These songs of a mute

For in my guise as a statue

My message cries moot

So I need to escape

This silent cacaphone

But I have no feet

And I must run

Author's Note

Tobin
A poet song writer once said it best in one of her songs:
If I get it all down on paper, it's no longer
Inside of me, threatening the life it belongs to
And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd
'Cause these words are my diary, screaming out loud
And I know that you'll use them, however you want to
