I cry

I cry

A Poem by Absentee Reality Check

I cry for the little girl who will never see another birthday

I cry for those whose pain is trapped within them clawing its way out

I cry for those whose pain lays on the surface begging to be noticed

I cry for the childlike wonder that never made it to eight

for the kid whose nightmares got easier when they were asleep rather than awake

for the child sized demons haunting lives

for the little boy who prayed once and never again

for the survivors, for the watchers, the protectors and those they protected

for wounds hatred inflicts

for those eyes that brim with tears and those who cannot shed them

for the little one hidden rocking back and forth in a dark corner

for those who are broken and those who have needed to be healed

for those who bleed crimson emotion

and those trapped in deep blue ice, numb

I cry for those alone, those afraid and those who are both

for the heart broken

for the friendless

for those who believe that their pain is normal

for those who had innocence stolen, ripped, torn, from them

for those who watched their world crumble down and could not hold it up

for those who lose their people and for those who lose themselves

I cry for myself, because the world isn't good, safe, just or right

the bad guy isn't clear cut and often gets away

and choices are not between good and bad but bad and worse

I cry because the world knows about all of this pain and still turns

I cry because I can't expect it to do anything else

I cry

I cry

I cry

because late at night when I sit by myself

I remember and it…hurts.

I cry because what should be isn't.

I cry for the daddy stop's and the mama please's

the sister no's and the brother do leave's
