How Beautiful Are Thy Feet With Shoes

How Beautiful Are Thy Feet With Shoes

A Poem by Delmar Cooper

How fair and how pleasant you are, O love, for delights!

Unveil as wantons will.

Drop your robes of green, your robes of gold.

Reveal to me your nakedness.

Stretch out your white limbs, tremble in the air.

There is no skin so smooth, so cool to my touch.

Your neck is as a tower of ivory.

Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field.

How fair and how pleasant are you, O love, for delights!

My beloved is white and ruddy,

Come for me Beloved.

Awake, O north wind; and come now south; blow upon my garden,

Blow away care and garment.

Reveal now beauty cruel and kind wind.

That the spices thereof may flow out.

I'll try it again first chance I get.
Splendid personification of the sycamore, the beauty in "nakedness" - nature doesn't "hang on" to her robes much metaphorically speaking.
Loved the language in this - it did very much sound like a psalm.

Yes, the poem borrows liberally from three chapters of that poem
i'm always amazed by you delmar. your voice changes from poem to poem and clearly your
playing with language, (love poem language), the most mysterious language of them all.
Well conceived my friend.

What a playful, creative-- bordering sensual take on nature.. I love comparing the different color leaves to robes... "blow aware care and garment"... love the phrasing there.. what imagery and rich language used here.. It provides a affectionate tone to the piece.. You can FEEL the adoration and longing in it for the beauty contained.. another lovely write that I really enjoyed.. well done, I say!!
