In Autumn

In Autumn

There is a kaleidoscope of deciduous poetry.

I see it written everywhere.

Pages of it litter my lawn… dual labors:

The creation, not my fault,

The raking removal though, that falls to me.

There is no harm in it;

I could let it lie.

Soon snow will cover it.

It looks like that kind of year.

But I want spring to reveal birth,

Not just another body.

"Deciduous poetry" that is my favorite part, by far.. I agree about the beautiful scenery in fall. It is my favorite time of year! Oh and I heard on home and garden blip on the radio once not too long ago that actually leaving the leaves in your yard all winter, while lacking curb appeal, provides great protection and sequesters growth of your grasses and landscaping... some years it is best to opt to just let the leaves lie.. but back to your writing-I love the flow and composition! This is excellent writing!

Donald, thanks for reading and your kind comment.
Deciduous poetry. nature's words to us in the form of leaves that have fallen in a tumble of disarray This is actually very lovely, even though I'm a leaves on the ground or in the flowerbed kind of girl. Natures protection and feed for the long winter I think. It's always a discovery when spring finally pushed through. this gets 100 from me.

This poem reminded me of Robert Frost, a high compliment in my book.

If this is your 'usual' Delmar then I'll have two large and a decaf (no I dont know what Im wittering on about either lol)
I like the use of the seasons and the reference to the accompanying seasonal poems to create a great image here.

Very much enjoyed this. I couldn't help but smile at the end. I've been on the receiving end of this decomposing body of leaves after the snow and ice have melted in spring. Good writing.

Thanks for reading you are most kind.
Chuckling here... "a body of work" - a rare view.

I appreciate the site of a well kept loam of radiantly pen-to-mimed tones of view.

You make a difference - here - and I'm glad you are.

for fear of (and this is the very first time I've ever started a sentence like this and cant really remember the last time I was actually afraid) sounding incomprehensible....This is very good.

You are kind. It was at least simple.
