Kokoro

Kokoro

A Poem by Summer D.
"

Am I more than a machine?

"
Kokoro

Circuits and Wires.
Was I more than a machine?
‘My daughter’ you said.

The snow reminds me.
Of a man who worked so hard.
To grant me this wish.

Years have passed me by.
Kokoro" Why can’t I feel?
I; the miracle.

I can see it now.
Of a man who worked so hard.
More than a machine?

Let me feel you please.
Kokoro- Won’t you let me?
A new life begins.

Tears fall so endless.
I tremble but tell me why?
Fast; my kokoro.

My very own heart.
Heart! This is what he told me.
Kokoro, it hurts!

What is happiness?
There, in my heart mysteries.
The sadness in me.

I finally see.
Father, the reason, my heart?
I am by myself.

On that day and time.
Kokoro takes the pain; flow.
I speak; sincerely.

My father; thank you.
The chance with my Kokoro.
My father; thank you.

You saw me for more.
For the days you spent with me.
I can see it now.

Creator; Father.
I will sing to my last breath.
Yes; Thank you! Thank you!

The miracle; me.
Nothing more and nothing less.
Together we sing.

My feelings; the song.
Yet, my Kokoro departs.
Just a moments gift.

Too heavy and large.
Rejected; there my heart lies.
Circuits and wires.

A bitter sweet plight.
Father, such a load" my heart!
I; the miracle.

I am to be stone.
Never to be heard again.
I am by myself.

Yet I am truly happy.
It is said my smile was of a joyous one.
And I slept with the face of that of a peaceful angel.

I love you... Papa.

Program Terminated.

Author's Note

Summer D.
“ Kokoro” the Japanese word for ‘heart.’ I’ll admit that the idea isn’t completely original because it was inspired by a song I’ve been listening to for the past two days or so. I just turned it into a poem. It makes me cry every time I listen to it. This isn’t part of my dedication series– Just another weird haiku-poem sort of thing. Can you see the story? :P Yeah, I gave it a happy/sad ending. Mostly happy....I broke the haiku form after my last repetition of “ I am by myself.” So yup. Does this count as a cheerful poem Amrah? Haha.

Also no. The use of "creator" and "father" is not alluding to G-d.
I'm not really back. I just wanted to post this before I skipped off to watch my movie :D

So, what do you think?
Did you get the eeeeeeeeeeeending?

No? I'll be more than happy to explain.

So a scientist creates this machine, a girl, and he considers her a daughter.
No one else did but him and she shared some sort of special bond with him.
Eventually; he died and left her, but not without a final gift.
A 'kokoro'. A heart. A chance to live in this world and marvel at its splendors.
Thankful for the gift she promised to sing for all eternity in his good name.
Yet, all these emotions were too much for a simple machine.
Her program/'kokoro' failed and she ceased to move.
She "died" with a smile on her face as she sunk into an eternal slumber.

YET,YET,YET- She was able to feel love without a heart. :P She was able to tell her creator/father that she loved them before she shut down for good. How? How? The heart is a powerful thing :P It is more than an organ.

YT,

Summer

Inspiration can come from anywhere.

I understood. You have written this well. I have tried to understand what would happen if we actually achieved complete technological A.I. Are the machines ready to feel? Could they understand?
