An Angel's Wings

An Angel's Wings

A Poem by Demyra

I’m wrapped inside her wings, and she’s wrapped inside my arms,

We hardly even look at the malformed monstrosities around us.

I cling to her enticing warmth, and I ignore all the sounding alarms,

The earth is painted crimson beneath us, but it won’t be this sea that drowns us.

I’m wrapped inside an angel’s wings, lolled into serenity with the lullaby she sings,

We’re secure within these feathered rings, and I can escape these corrupt, bitter kings.

An angel’s wings now hold me tight,

Comforting me throughout the night.

And I’ll hold onto her, for she’s my light,

She’s my remedy, and my solace for my plight.

Even when her feathers are saturated with red,

Like the iris of a rose shielded by malignant thorns…

Her beautiful radiance envisioned in my head,

I can ignore the warnings and deceit of those witches’ horns.

Sometimes I seethe, sometimes I bleed,

She calms my flame, holds the flow tame.

Sometimes I seethe, sometimes I bleed,

So finally when I breathe, she becomes all I need.

There’s a calm in her eye to tranquil my storm,

And a flame in my soul to purge every enemy.

There’s a chill in my heart that gets harder to warm,

And a flame in her mind that brings heat into me.
