The Dreamer

The Dreamer

A Poem by Moonflower
"

Your face is a photograph

"

Call in
(ringtone)...dial again

"hello?"

Hey there, my friend
"how are you?"
Fine, how have you been?

Late nights,
long talks
you're the one that knows
'my luck'
Big sigh, smile (wide)
you have some money,
if i have a ride?

Too late, but I pick you up
drive around,
the river's up
Sharp point
  (pay phone)
S**t, man we got to get home

Bright lights,
  here again
hold me tight, yeah
"See ya friend"
but next week, there's a show
Text me

"yeah, I'll let you know.."

Sun's up
(you're awake)
Smiling, what a bright place
"did you see that video?"
It's crazy, if you really
 'know'

Fast days, all fly by
Hey, "I haven't got high"
Me too..
no, that's a lie

Silver glint,
 always in our eyes
weary as we say "good-bye"
Those long sleeves, a soft bruise
you're the one
  who can't lose

but I'm still here,
 and gods know
how we came to this road
breathing, pleading, please

don't

Blue lips, your white throat
Sharp sting, a high tone
Hey man, "don't go"
 please, god that was
so close

but you'd just laugh
 say
"Yeah..I know"

Crying on the telephone
"oh, please don't let me,
die alone"

I (promised) you would find
your hope but when

you died

you were alone..

Author's Note

Moonflower
Honestly guys, I know this needs a lot of work, but right now I leave it as it is, a pouring of the heart in a state of grieving. I have never been down this path before, I pray I won't have to again. I cannot even begin to explain the pain of losing one of my close friends and both of us still so young. My heart is in pieces, and so is my poetry.
Thank you for reading<3

May you rest peacefully, in dreams and roses, my dear sweet

I'm sorry for the lost of your friend. Good to write down thoughts. Losing a young person in a life leave us with many questions. I lost three brothers. I think of them daily. A very sad poem. Best thing we can do is remember our friend and hope they are in a better place.

I never read poems from people on here any more, they are just bland, yet i always love reading your art. Again you write passionately and i love seeing that, I don't think this needs any work, this was heartfelt and pure. I offer all condolences on the loss of a close friend, it is always a hard time. They are in a better place now, no pain, I hope all goes well, I am no one to talk now, i send you the best of wishes.

Exactly! thanks for the enthusiasm :)
I haven't read your work in ages, I thought you left Writers cafe for good, this poem I can relate to, I have lost a friend to DUI, saw two friends attempting suicide, these words are honest and real, I am terribly sorry for your loss although it's late. May the soul of your friend find peace in a better place away, from this wicked world.

Poignant mini-movie, crackling w/the telling details of cruisin' close friends, bruising to a halt w/a sudden demise. Rife w/the feel of lord knows how many youthful tragedies in heartland small towns. Has the feel of rap rising to song as well. Condolences & kudos for courage.
