Carnality(A Social Comment) - The Murderer's Song

Carnality(A Social Comment) - The Murderer's Song

A Poem by DevKass92
"

A social comment on the current state of South Africa

"

Friends and family traumatised

The true state of things realised

Protocol just hypothesized

Positive change not actualised

Criminals being idolised

The police never criticised.

When did we let all this go so wrong?

The innocent are always targeted

Right from wrong undifferentiated

A group attack is initiated

Vicious violence simply tolerated

This rape remains uninvestigated

Predators free, not incarcerated.

How can these actions persist for so long?

Too many blind eyes is so disturbing

Anger cultivated, blood pulsating

The truly awful merely pretending

Vast injustice so incriminating

Our police force beyond undefending

This pain and violence is never-ending.

Why is this damn carnality prolonged?

With distorted reality, how can we realise

The detriments of the traits we wrongly characterise

Or how easily we so wrongly familiarise

With such tainted morals we then so wrongly prophesise "

This new propaganda meant to wrongly radicalise.

Did you honestly ever think others could sympathise?

My ears are deaf to this “Murderers’ Song”.

Such indescribable infidels have conspired,

And the damage of their dirty deeds has transpired.

The qualities for which our land was once admired

Have so reprehensibly been reworked and rewired

And what time we had for change has long since expired "

Our government; our legislature have retired.

Why do corrupt criminals still belong?

With such empty fellows, I cannot ever associate:

How this land’s reputation they further deteriorate

While they poke here and prod there and just forcefully impregnate

It will have to take a Worldly effort to illuminate

The extent of their damage, which they will never uncreate

If anything, this chronic corruption they perpetuate.

Why is this brutality perceived as strong?

With all liberties lost and ideals we can never reclaim,

This corrupt and cold-cursed cardboard country is all that will remain "

A concomitant of carnality, as we cannot maintain

Any sense of civility, ‘til our senility explains

The reasons for such savagery and why I profess such disdain,

And instead of welcoming you, I urge you to only abstain.

Our rainbow flag now a bloodied sarong.

The uneducated rallying to ignite

A preposterous passion to stand firm and fight,

Not for what is fair or just, nor for what is right,

But to fight, and then collect on their so-called plight

As they elect leaders to help banish the light

Who then cower behind laws for which we had to fight…

We are victims to the “Murderers’ Song”.

DevKass92
As a South African, I struggle with the notion of being patriotic and being 'Proudly South African': yes, we have come through a lot as a nation, and learnt to embrace diversity and each other, but our supposed progress has corrupted our country, especially those who are in power of this country. It's very hard to feel like we are a rainbow nation when everything is still so black and white.
