AT THE PARK

AT THE PARK

A Poem by Nkosana B Masuku
"

Two lovers at the park

"
They sit together on a bench
At the park.
Hearts intertwined in the
Beauty of nature.
Birds chirp melodiously than usual
In response to the air which
Is filled with a rare love on this day,
Love illuminated from these two
Eminent lovers,
Sitting together on a bench
At the park.
They enjoy the view and converse
On a profound emotional level.
Constant stares are made which fuel
The burning flame of love
Between them,
Gleeful smiles are exchanged,
Laughter’s are shared,
And they seem to be lost in their own world,
Sitting together on a bench
At the park.
She rests her head on his shoulder and
He fondles her hair gently,
Both,
Creating a sensational moment felt only
By the hearts…,
By the hearts of these
Two divine lovers sitting together on a bench
At the park.
The sun dawns on them
And they capture a blissful moment
Of themselves on photo by the fountain
Across their bench.
A photo which for them not only
Reflects a thousand words,
But depicts a thousand feelings…,
Feelings of love all
Imprinted in the DNA of their
Harmonious Hearts!

Very sentimental. It is pretty well written. However, I believe in the fifth stanza you mean the birds chirped "more" melodiously than usual, otherwise, it doesn't quite seem to make sense. Other than that, I would say that this is an enchanting poem. A bit sappy for my tastes, but then again I'm the one girl in the world that doesn't seem to like romance novels. Go figure! I would like, however, to see more glimpses of them rather than be told what their love was like. Hope this helps!

For me, the line: "Eminent lovers" really says it all...

I feel the budding of a romance here, but not just any romance, one that was written into the very codes of their DNA. Thus, I believe this is a take on the idea of "soul mates", or two halves that have finally found their perfect whole. I love the park bench scene, because I have actually sat on a park bench with an "eminent lover" and I could thus feel the emtion in this one all the more strongly.
