Any other night

Any other night

A Poem by Dinesh Sairam
"

One of those nights..

"
I've wished I could enjoy the night,
and love it for the last of light
it's retained of the day.

I've looked at it, but for that stare,
nor sleeping earth and sweeping air,
nor speaking trees can lay

my heart out, my silent heart out.
The wanderers have gone about:
No one shall embark

this path, while through the deeper dark
they leave behind a man who might
make something of this night.

This is a very fine poem, I read it aloud and was not only impressed by the structure, (I think a three line verse is great) but by the your talent for observation and the way you transport it into fine English, like so many of the poets from India.
A remarkable poem, excellent.
