Whatching it Burn

Whatching it Burn

A Poem by Jessica Lima

For many years I have pretended

That I cared about many things...

But today I'm tired, spent, and weak

So I decided to burn all strings.

Everything that linked me to you,

And the lies I was forced to listen.

They burn this deep, deep blue

So beautiful that my eyes glisten.

This is utterly amazing. I feel this. I have felt this. And, yes, I have even burned strings, letters, pictures, anything to disconnect with the past and place distance between my heart and hurt. This is so entirely too "full" for taking up such little space in print.

"They burn this deep, deep blue
So beautiful that my eyes glisten."

The hidden possibility of this tears at my heart. So beautiful the flames of letting go, your eyes glisten in hope. Or, so bitterly beautiful the flames of letting go, your eyes glisten in sorrow.

Superb. This is going straight to my favorites. I love it.

Whoa, for something so short, this is so powerful!
The first two lines caught my eye and struck me deep.
I love the subject, the meaning within the words, and how raw yet beautifully put together this is.
Wonderful!

There is a lot of power in this piece. Enough is enough, and never has that been so beautifully relayed. Great job.
