I am finished, I begin anew

I am finished, I begin anew

A Poem by Dave "Doc" Rogers
"

Musing on changes in life and location.

"

I am finished.
I ran my course.
I was obedient to the end.
I have satisfied my service.

A new adventure begins.
A new service elsewhere.
A new requirement asked.
A new testing of resolve.

I move on.
Final things nearly done.
Dear good-byes made.
Promises of future plans said.

This era ends.
A new era begins.
Ventures in distance.
Encounters with the unfamiliar.

Future altering decisions.
Who to bring?
Who to stay?
At last, terminus.

Committed, we go.
Those things dear and precious,
Loaded and packed tight.
A road before us, we go.

There is no returning.
The ink is dry.
The deal is struck.
A trade of goods made.

Wither are we bound?
Eastward, eastward,
The paved ribbon leads.
Where to now?

A destination unknown.
A people unknown.
A city and land unknown.
I begin again, anew.
