Containers and Jars
by Dave Doc Rogers
 20091206

A rhythm beats across wood and hide
Strumming guitars ride the tempo
Notes picked on steel strings
Words hang in the air just a moment
As paint is swirled on blank canvas

Hand in hand, hips sway, and feet tap
A mood takes them away
Watchful eyes capture the scene
As conversations quieten
To store up this life's event

All we are, containers and jars
Storing up moments of life
Shared at a future time
With family and friends
Or a quiet reflection of then

The events of life make one full
Conversations held in remembrance
Eyes stare distantly replaying the scene
Away in a mood relived
Feet tap, hand in hand, hips sway

A painted canvas on a wall
Electronic replay, a voice sings still
Crisp and clear, stringed notes are picked
Strumming guitars stirring the soul
Soft skinned beats play out their rhythm

All we are, containers and jars
Stored up moments of life
Shared at a future time
With family and friends
Or in quiet reflection of then

- For my friend, Tania Cordobs

this is a fantastic write. I would love to hear it. She's a very smart woman to ask one such as yourself to write this.

You've touched perfectly on the beauty of the cuban beat. Well done!

I was attracted by the title of this poem. A very interesting concept and comparison to us being containers and jars. This was a very well written and enjoyable read!

So I read this out loud and even though it doesn't have the standard meter or ryhme, it does have wonderful alliteration and great sound quality to it if that makes sense. Beautifully penned, Doc.

Hey! this is really good. I love your poem and the idea that we're containers and jars, that's original.

I like the thought of containers and jars. This reminds me of the two stories: Empty Jar and 2 Cups of Coffee.

Awesome! and that's not a word I use often. This jar is always half full (or half empty) and the echoes mix magically enough to inspire
