Breathe

A poem about giving away yourself and having your dreams crushed by the one you trusted.

Stab it deep into your chest

Between the ribs

Through tender flesh

Grasp the sides and rip it wide

Exposing the thing which beats inside

Cut the arteries

Slice the veins

Ignoring any vestige of pain

Until you hold that pulsing orb

In your bloodied palm

Crimson and warm

Give it to them

For them to cherish

Until the day

You both do perish

And watch

As they let it drop

To the floor

Before stepping through the World's door

Let the tears streak as they leave

Your heart is gone

But you continue to

Breathe

Author's Note

No, I've never actually experienced pain like this- hell, I've never even had a girlfriend- but I know people who have, and I've seen the pain they've experienced

Omg, I'm not gonna lie.. that this made me cry! This is SO good, but yet its simple Wonderful, just wonderful :)

Awww, this is so deep. I love it. It's a mixture of gore, morbidness, and has just the little bit of rhyming that isn't too much. I absolutely LOVE this, Christian. It's really amazing. And the red of the text adds to the effect. I usually include one thing people could change to make it better, but I can't find any!!
