Watching You

Watching You

A Poem by Annabelle Lee
"

Couple stanzas stolen from One Republic's "Stop and Stare"

"
Stop and stare
I think I'm moving , but I go nowhere
Yeah I know that everyone gets scared
I've become what I can't be

Just watching you become what you are
While I stand, unchanged, this s**t is hard
Trying to step forward
It's so damn hard with my head turned back
My mind is playing tricks on me
And my life is out of whack

I tried to apologize. but I guess it was too late
You didn't want to love someone who was so easy to hate
I'm watching you
Even though you left me behind
I want to keep up
But you throw me out every time

Tell me you need something to be proud of yourself for
I get what that's about, but I just can't ignore
When I decide to look back
And I see you waiting for me
I want that again
But you've changed your story

I'm staring down myself, counting up the years
Steady hands just take the wheel
Every glance is killing me
Time to make one last appeal
For the life I lead

What story is that anyway? What do you want to be?
Because I don't know why you can't be it with me
I look behind me and I see you
But right now you aren't with me
But I look forward and I see you
Tell me you see what I see.

About
Hello everyone I am Annabelle Lee. I am FINALLY, after June 12, the ripe old age of fifteen. I'm a poet. I want to write novels, as well, but those do not belong on this site in hopes that someday .. more..
