Sunlight

I see the sun

I feel, smell, and sit in it

Yet to me it is still dark

 

For in my spirit and mind

I'm lost

Afraid

 

So to be around them

The people I love the most

Makes this non-fiction pain blossom

 

So I guess here I'm safe

Wherever here is

This permanent black abyss I'm eternally subjected too

 

Like a flower just on the edge of the sun, a line away from the darkness it needs

A flower with black blossoms that never open

A flower thats sadness, pain, and darkness is deprived

Now and forever

 

Like for the flower, the sun doesn't help

Make me smile, laugh or grin

Yet here I sit parched in it.

That's so true on how people (including you and I and the rest) can be every once in a while. It's nice and sunny; Another beautiful day, yet it doesn't help us to lift up our spirits. Only we can help ourselves to do it so...

I love this!!! The contrast of the beauty of the sun, and yet you are unable to experience it... the irony is evident in your excellent choice of words. From "So I guess here I'm safe" to the end is my favorite, and IMO it's when the poem really picks up. Great job, very original & rewarding to read! (:
