Prologue

I walk along the beach pondering.  I feel the wet sand between my toes as the waves rush at my feet.  The  wind is gently blowing, lifting tendrils of hair from my face as I raise it to meet the warmth of the sun. It is nice to be alone here to ponder in perfect safety…at least for now.

A dark rushing of water, as it boils, and crashes against the rocks.  Ominous darkness cloaks the day leaving me breathless.  Is this a nightmare or is it real.  Is this hell opening its gaping maw to devour what is left of my mind?   Loud thundering voices mingled and tangled in the air can be heard as I shiver with fear and trepidation.  The air has become moist and cold, the wind is fierce against my face stinging my eyes so that I cannot see but blurry visions before me.

The torrid winds twist my body and spray from the ocean wets my skin as I stumble and fall.  Fear of this unknown force around me fills me as I hit the ground.  Then all is dark, silence ensconces me and I know nothing.  I fall into dreams, or is this memory?  Memory of what life once was, when ones own thoughts were safe from other prying minds.

Clammy tendrills slither around my consciousness like icy fingers prying at the secrets that lie therein.  They have found me.  They have new strength, new power.  If they can incompacitate me this way, what will they do to the masses once they have them all converted and inserted.  Where will our freedom be then?

I fight the prying mental appendages trying to rip into my mind.   Some how I manage to bite my lip hard enough to draw blood and it shocks me into consciousness.  My heart pounding, breathing in gasps,  I pull my knees to my chest, rest my chin on them and close my eyes.  I breath the moist ocean air in slowly,  trying to calm my trembling body and frightened mind.

Finally, I am calm and I see that all around me is as it was before the mind invasion.   I realize it was the invaders into my psche who created the terrible stormy scene that had knocked me into unconsciousness.  It had not been real, but it had been powerful.  More powerful than ever been before.   I was lucky to have escaped this time.
