First Time Jitters

First Time Jitters

A Poem by Sean Allen
"

They say to focus on one person in the audience...

"

First Time Jitters

Gradually her eyes adjust,
as the final lights ignite.

A large number are here,
each adding to her plight.

Seeing now more clearly,
she looks out at so many.
Unable, however to see,
into the heart of just any.

Hearing nary a sounds,
her mind focuses on one.
Not the tallest in the group,
nor a brightly clothed one.

Age is not important,
or physical appearance.
What would this one say,
as she alters her glance.

Seconds seem like hours,
as she checks her dress.
She brushes away her hair,
hiding her nervousness.

At last, the time has come,
her hand touches the one…
As she remembers hearing,
that it was going to be fun….

RRRRRING…

Oh, hold on class…

I want you all to go to the
library this weekend, and choose

the first “Love” poem you come across.
You’ll read it to the whole class Monday.

“It should be lots of fun.”

Oh- the meanie teacher-or the bell either way she was anxious and so nervous for no reason that day now she will have to carry the jitters with her until Monday- and a new poem ... this is a great poem.. the ending a surprise.
I always dreaded the essays ect. we would have to present in front of the classroom! I felt just like this girl.. nice one, Sean.
