Not Wanted

Not Wanted

A Poem by Donyay Thomas

The things I want i can't have
I want you but I cant have you
The more you hold me
The more I like you
It's like you don't want me
But I'm too blind to see
Your touch gives me shivers
Your presence makes my day
But I know u wont stay
I'm never enough for someone
So I guess I'm not wanted

It expresses well the frustrations of unrequited longings and the self-doubts that follow..

Following the logic of the first line (what I want I can't have) and applying it to the last line (I guess I'm not wanted), does that mean that the persona's beloved, not wanting the persona, can have the persona?

I know the main point of the poem is what the title says (that the persona feels unwanted) but I can't help but draw inferences... more so if we people tend to give ourselves to those whom we want.
