The Poet

The Poet

A Poem by Doodley
"

Here I stay, Here I lay.

"
As the Weeping Willow in wind doth sway,
Did the handsome wanderer come this way;
For he was lost, no place, no home,
And here he cuddled into your lovely poem;
He found at last, a place to rest,
And here he'll stay, until his death.

A simple sextet. No groundbreaking poetry here, folks! Just something to keep the poetic synapses firing until my next poem.

Any comments are greatly appreciated.

Doodley, You captured the aura of the poet's sojourn, although this poet may never be called "the HANDSOME wanderer..." Many mirrors have cracked while reflecting THIS visage! (ha!) Yeah, it's good to write a short 'exercise poem' just to keep the skillet greased. A fine job. take care...dan

Life sure is like poetry for some...melancholic yet encouraging, satisfying yet with a slight tint of grey...whereas, poetry is life for some. What a beautiful theme this one. So very relatable.
Spellbinding work!

Doodley, I enjoyed this piece and would like to rebut the comment you make about it being a "Simple Sextet" There are many out there that don't write poetry, so simple to you might be "Ground breaking" to them and might inspire them to try their hand at writing. You shouldn't belittle your work; for it might just be the piece that changes someone else's life!

Lovely poem!
Lucky Poet for having that handsome wanderer!

There's some feeling inside this poem, and the joyfulness was one of it.
I don't know why, but I feel it, deeply.

Thank you for the poem!

Why do we have to write...
Then sometimes feel so alone like no one but some dead poet gets us?!
Loved it...
excepted the word cuddle. :)

For a poem that has just six lines, this was brilliant. As I have believed, simplicity is beauty. Much has been said in so little, I'm glad to have read it, friend! Great work!!
